Twitter
is basically a Web site that allows subscribers
to send short, 140-character messages (called
Tweets) to anyone who wants to receive them.
Twitter users get to pick who they want to
“follow.” Limiting the number of people that you
follow gives you control of how many Tweets that
you receive. I love the short Tweets and the
ability to limit how much verbiage I have to
sift through. If I do not find someone's Tweets
to be worth reading I simply stop following them
with a few clicks of the mouse. The amount of
Tweets that I send and receive is entirely under
my control. |

Micro-blogging platform Twitter has 32 million
users, which is an increase from about 2 million
a year ago, according to research mentioned in
The Wall Street Journal. Some Internet
measurement services show that figure increasing
50% to 100% month-over-month. While it is not
clear that Twitter will become as large as
social networks, MySpace and Facebook or
video-sharing site YouTube, the company could
certainly have 50 million visitors by the end of
the year. |

One of the new channels companies use in
developing market awareness for their brands is
the Internet. The internet is such a powerful
communication tool. It is also the most
practical and affordable way to reach millions
of consumers online. Twitter, a micro-blogging
and social networking site is one of the ways
marketers are reaching out to clients online. |
